G. (Gregory) Albert Darst
Brother Darst is a Baptist preacher, teacher, evangelist, and writer. Though not
presently pastoring, he is active in the ministry of Community Baptist Church, an
independent Baptist church in Bradenton, Florida. He has taught an adult Bible class based on
a unique Christ-centered Sunday school teaching method he is currently developing.
One series went through the book of Matthew in 13 years, while the second series
went through the book of Revelation in 5 years. Saved and baptized in an independent Baptist church in 1976 at age 34, Brother Darst was called to preach in October of 1980. He entered Baptist University of America in Atlanta, Georgia in 1981. He completed the requirements for a B.A. in theology, and one year of postgraduate work, graduating with honors in 1984. Since graduation, Brother Darst has pastored two independent Baptist churches, one in Georgia and one in Florida, before entering upon his present writing, teaching, and itinerant preaching ministry. He is a man with a special vision that dominates his entire life and ministry. That vision is to magnify the Name and Person of Jesus Christ, through his teaching, preaching and writing. All of us, of course, say that. But he is obsessed with it. I must admit, I have found it contagious. His preaching style is typically expository, and always with the express purpose of setting forth the glories of our Lord -- "that in all things He might have the preeminence." This message is truly needed to encourage and unify God's people around Christ and His truth. Brother Darst and his wife Barbara have been married for 42 years. Their oldest son, Garrick, is a pleasant, well-mannered Down's Syndrome child. Their second son, Geoffrey, graduated from Bob Jones University, Greenville, S.C., with a major in youth ministries. The Darst's have four grandchildren. Brother Darst is an fundamental, local church only, historic independent Baptist. His approach to preaching, teaching, or writing can be summed up in his definition of preaching: Preaching the Word"M aking Known the Son,I n the Presence of the Father,T hrough the Power of the Spirit,A ccording to the Revelation of the Word."
